Voice & How To Hear It

Voice & How To Hear It

11am-1pm | May 17 2019 | John Hansard Gallery

A photo of a lamb with its very large ears pricked up, and the workshop title: Voice and How to Hear It

This Collective Reading Session opens a conversation with all who are interested in thinking together about voice, vocality and listening. Sarah will first introduce some of the most exciting ideas resonating in voice studies today. The group will then consider a selection of provocative theoretical prompts (this primer will be made available in advance but no preparatory reading is required). Our discussion will give participants a chance to tune in to the material, aesthetic, social and political dimensions of voice and voicing. Sign up here.

This event will take place as part of the JHG Community Takeover. Community and learning are at the heart of John Hansard Gallery. From 9 May to 6 July, come and experience an exciting range of creative ideas and talents presented by different local groups and partners from across the city of Southampton in our Gallery 1 space. Explore, celebrate, and join in!
